‘Change is never a
matter of ability, but a
matter of motivation’

“Coaching changed my life for the better and is one of the most powerful tools for healing and transformation that I know. I can’t imagine my life without it, and this is why I love sharing it with people.”

Hi there! Nowadays, I have the privilege to travel for my work and live in two beautiful cities, Amsterdam and Cape Town. I am an accredited certified coach  endorsed by the AC (Association for Coaching) and ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management). I run an online coaching business, train groups of people and partner with the Hoffman Process, which offers 7 days personal growth retreats, and with Wild.life where we create wilderness journeys for professional development. In the book, Babe, you got this. Het werkboek, I share my coaching tips geared for female entrepreneurs. I also try to spend as much time as I can offline. You’ll find me swimming in the sea, cycling till sunset or camping away in the lovely outdoors. It may sound like a dream life, but don’t get me wrong. I work hard for it e-v-e-r-y single day. It’s possible to design your own dream life, and that’s exactly what I want to inspire you to do. Connect with your unique talents, experience more freedom and make the world a better place. Let me take you on my journey…

During the first decade of my life I lived in four different countries. Travelling, being curious and connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds is second nature to me. Growing up in Malawi, one of the poorest countries in the world but exceptionally rich in genuinely friendly people, had a massive impact on shaping the person I am today. It was here that the stage was set for a young, conscious girl, sporting pigtails and big-ass glasses (thanks mom & dad!) to dream….and dream she did! That little girl grew up into the woman I am today and the dream remains the same: to make this world a better place.

Curious by nature, I tried my hand at many different things.

I studied International Law, worked for diverse international Human Rights organisations, on Women’s Rights and HIV/Aids, as well as being an election observer in DR Congo. Why? I wanted to give something back to those who were less fortunate; and support them by giving them a voice to change the world together.

Besides being the girl from Africa, I’m also an athlete and sport remains one of my biggest passions. I’ve sailed various World Championships and cycled stages of the Tour de France. I absolutely loved it! I enjoy challenging myself physically and mentally. It was through my love of sports that I learnt one of my biggest life lessons. ’The only barrier that stops you from achieving your goals is your mind’. (Read my blog on this topic).

Turning passion into a profession, I worked in the international sport industry as a brand manager for many years. My focus was empowering women through sport, as I believe it has a massive impact on their development. (A bold statement, I know! Read more about it on my blog.) I strongly believe that sport makes the world a better place by making people fit, happy and healthy, which connects with my overall mission.

While all these experiences taught me to be creative, resilient and how to engage with different people, I still had this restless feeling…I came to a standstill in my life and wasn’t sure where to go, or even who I was. Life seemed tough, a struggle, like I was fighting a losing battle. Couldn’t there be another way? A different way? With more happiness, peace and love?

On the outside apparently I was looking for answers and how to make the world a better place. But there was also some work to do on the inside: I had to make that a better place first. Because I learned that when it comes to making real changes in life, you have to start with yourself first.

Luckily, I didn’t accept the situation I was in. I had a huge desire to change my life. I tried many different things, from courses to therapy, to yoga and meditation, to the Hoffman Process (which I can highly recommend). Some of the things I’ve tried have even become part of my daily practice. However, coaching was what really changed my life.

I still remember the first time I walked into my coach’s office. I was in survival mode, really hard on myself, someone who thought they had to do it all alone. I left that place with a much stronger sense of who I was. I had a clearer idea of what it was that I wanted in life and how to get there. Life changing! Coaching was (and is) the best investment I made in myself.

During that time I realized something else. I had always been fascinated by human potential and the human psyche. Without realising it, for the past 20 years a lot of my time, energy and money went to books, workshops and courses on this topic. Hello! Clearly I had to explore this further. Having experienced tremendous transformation myself, it was clear that I wanted to pay it forward.

I wanted to give back and inspire others with all the lessons I had learned. I wanted to make this world a better place, by making people better human beings. After many years my childhood mission was still there!

So, here I am today. I might look a lot different than that little girl with pigtails but the mission remains the same. A mission to create a better world through better people. Through coaching, training and speaking, I hope to support and inspire you to identify the true power of your talents to create a better life and world together.
